About MeI am a first-generation, Mexican-American, female scientist raised in a low-income, single-parent home in Cicero, Illinois. I have a doctorate degree in atmospheric, oceanic, and space sciences. I am the air quality policy analyst for Weld County in northeastern Colorado where I serve as a resource on air related topics for boards, staff, towns/cities, and the general public. My past experience includes researching precipitation over mountains and the physical processes involved with cloud and precipitation development, and bilingual science communication. I believe academia requires a radical cultural change to effectively meet the needs and passions of the new generations of scientists. I am passionate about inclusion, science communication, education and outreach, language justice, and mental health. When I'm not working, I enjoy hiking, cross-stitching, crocheting, reading, watching Youtube, hanging out at coffee shops, and squeezing cats. ¡Hablo Español! (She/Her/Ella) |
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns
And many a failure comes about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell just how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.
- John Greenleaf Whittier
